1. Price: ServiceM8 starts much lower

ServiceM8 publishes a Free plan at $0/month for one user and up to 30 new jobs per month. Starter is $29/month with unlimited users and 50 new jobs per month. Growing is $79 for 150 jobs, Premium is $149 for 500, and Premium Plus is $349 for 1,500 jobs. Premium Plus publishes additional jobs at $0.20 each.

Jobber Core is $49/month with no commitment for one user. Jobber also publishes lower commitment and annual rates, but DetailerFit uses the flexible no-commitment monthly rate as the cleanest baseline for monthly comparisons.

Important: the cheapest subscription is not automatically the cheapest workflow. ServiceM8's price rises with monthly new-job volume, while Jobber Core publishes unlimited jobs. Use your actual job count in the calculator.

2. Online booking: both can do it at entry level

ServiceM8 lists Online Bookings across all plans, including Free. Jobber Core also includes the ability to book and schedule jobs online. For a mobile detailer who wants customers to book without jumping to a high-tier plan, both deserve a serious look.

3. Team pricing: ServiceM8 has the simpler seat model

ServiceM8's paid plans publish unlimited users. Its plan progression is driven primarily by job allowance and feature depth rather than charging for each extra seat.

Jobber uses team-size configurations. Current no-commitment Connect pricing is $139 for one user, $199 for up to 5 users, $299 for up to 10 and $399 for up to 15. Teams of 16 or more are directed to sales.

4. Routing: compare the total, not just the checkmark

Jobber publishes route optimization on Connect, Grow and Plus. For a solo operator, the current flexible-monthly routing entry point is Connect at $139/month.

ServiceM8 offers Auto Routing as an add-on that can reorder scheduled jobs to reduce travel. DetailerFit does not currently find a clear public price for that add-on on ServiceM8's pricing pages, so our calculator does not invent an exact routing total.

5. iPhone vs Android is a real buying decision

ServiceM8 supports both iOS and Android, but its documentation describes the iPhone/iPad app as the most feature-rich mobile experience. ServiceM8 Lite for Android covers core field workflows including jobs, messaging, checklists, forms, photos, quotes and invoices.

That makes ServiceM8 especially compelling for an iPhone-first operation. Mixed-device teams should compare the exact Android workflow they need before committing.

Real-world scenarios

Solo detailer · 20 jobs/month · iPhone

Start with ServiceM8. The Free plan fits one user and up to 30 new jobs/month, and the iOS experience is a core product strength.

Solo detailer · 100 jobs/month · online booking

ServiceM8 Growing is $79/month at the published 150-job allowance. Jobber Core is $49/month with no commitment and publishes unlimited jobs. At this volume, Jobber can become the cheaper headline subscription.

Five-person crew · 40 jobs/month

ServiceM8 Starter is $29/month with unlimited users and a 50-job allowance. If its workflow fits, its seat economics are hard to ignore here.

Five-person crew · routing required

Jobber Connect is $199/month on flexible monthly billing for up to five users and includes route optimization. ServiceM8 can also auto-route, but compare the live add-on price before declaring a cost winner.

Mixed Android/iPhone crew

Put Jobber high on the shortlist. ServiceM8 Lite makes Android workable for core technician tasks, but ServiceM8 still positions iPhone/iPad as its fullest mobile experience.

Which should a mobile detailer choose?

  • Choose ServiceM8 first if: you are solo or a small team, use iPhones, want the lowest starting cost, or expect seat count to grow faster than job volume.
  • Choose Jobber first if: you want unlimited job volume on the entry plan, prefer a broader field-service path, or want routing and automation in a clearly priced Connect configuration.
  • Do not choose from the logo: enter your real users, jobs, booking requirement and routing requirement into the DetailerFit calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Is ServiceM8 or Jobber cheaper for a solo mobile detailer?

At very low job volume, ServiceM8 is cheaper because its Free plan costs $0 for one user and up to 30 new jobs per month. Jobber Core costs $49/month with no commitment. As ServiceM8 job volume moves into higher tiers, the comparison can reverse.

Which is better for online booking?

Both publish customer online-booking capability at entry level. ServiceM8 lists Online Bookings across all plans, while Jobber Core includes online booking for one user.

Which is better for route optimization?

Both have routing capability. Jobber publishes route optimization on Connect, Grow and Plus. ServiceM8 offers Auto Routing as an add-on; DetailerFit does not quote a total routing price because a clear public add-on price was not found in the vendor pricing documentation reviewed.

Can ServiceM8 work on Android?

Yes. ServiceM8 has ServiceM8 Lite for Android for core field workflows. Its documentation says the iPhone/iPad app remains the most feature-rich mobile experience.
