QuoteIQ vs ServiceM8 for mobile detailers: which one fits your business better?

ServiceM8 is hard to beat on low-volume pricing, paid-plan team economics and customer online booking. QuoteIQ makes a stronger case when you want full iOS, Android and web access, a broader AI toolkit and pricing that is not structured around monthly job allowances.

Quick verdict

SERVICEM8

Best first look for low-volume, iPhone-first operators

Free for one user and up to 30 new jobs per month. Paid plans start at $29/month with unlimited users, and Online Bookings are published across all plans.

QUOTEIQ

Best first look for cross-device access and a deeper AI stack

Essentials starts at $29.99/month for one user with web, iOS and Android access plus QuoteIQ's AI features through IQ Credits.

Our decision rule: if you are a solo or small-team mobile detailer using iPhones and want the lowest-cost path to customer self-booking, start with ServiceM8. If you want the same platform available across web, iOS and Android, prefer QuoteIQ's AI-heavy toolset, or do not want your software tier determined by monthly new-job volume, QuoteIQ deserves the stronger look.

1. Pricing: the two products scale in completely different ways

QuoteIQ and ServiceM8 can look almost identical at the bottom of their paid pricing ladders: QuoteIQ Essentials is $29.99/month, while ServiceM8 Starter is $29/month. But those numbers hide two very different pricing models.

QuoteIQ's current published plans scale primarily by features, user capacity and IQ Credits:

Essentials$29.99/mo1 user · 500 IQ Credits/month
Beginner$74.99/mo2 users · 1,500 IQ Credits/month
Pro$149.99/mo4 users · 3,000 IQ Credits/month
Elite$299/mo10 users · 5,000 IQ Credits/month
Max$699/moUnlimited users · 8,000 IQ Credits/month

ServiceM8's plan ladder is driven much more directly by monthly new-job volume:

Free$0/mo1 user · 30 new jobs/month · 10 AI uses/day
Starter$29/moUnlimited users · 50 new jobs/month · unlimited AI uses/day
Growing$79/moUnlimited users · 150 new jobs/month
Premium$149/moUnlimited users · 500 new jobs/month
Premium Plus$349/moUnlimited users · 1,500+ new jobs/month · $0.20 per additional job
The important difference: ServiceM8 can be dramatically cheaper for a small team doing relatively few jobs because its paid plans publish unlimited users. QuoteIQ can become more attractive when your job volume grows faster than your team size because its current published pricing is not structured around monthly new-job allowances.

2. Customer self-booking: this is the biggest practical difference

For mobile detailers, internal scheduling is not the same thing as customer self-booking. Both products can help you organize appointments internally, but the point at which customers can choose a time themselves is very different.

ServiceM8 publishes Online Bookings across all plans. Its online booking flow can let a customer choose a service, answer pricing questions, see available times and complete the booking. ServiceM8 can also host the booking form for you.

QuoteIQ includes its internal job scheduling and calendar on Essentials, but customer-facing self-booking through InstaSchedule starts on Elite at $299/month. That is the first QuoteIQ tier that lets customers book themselves against real-time availability.

Do not compare $29.99 QuoteIQ Essentials with $29 ServiceM8 Starter if self-booking is mandatory. The correct comparison is the cheapest plan on each platform that actually includes the workflow you need.

For a solo detailer whose main goal is reducing back-and-forth messages about appointment times, ServiceM8 has a major price advantage on published plans.

3. Team economics: ServiceM8 is extremely aggressive for small crews

ServiceM8's paid plans publish unlimited users. That can create unusual economics for a detailing business where several employees or technicians need software access but the company still handles a relatively modest number of jobs each month.

QuoteIQ does not charge a separate per-seat fee, but user capacity is tied to the plan: Essentials includes 1 user, Beginner 2, Pro 4, Elite 10 and Max unlimited.

Example: three-person crew doing 40 new jobs per month

On ServiceM8, Starter at $29/month covers the published 50-job allowance and unlimited users. On QuoteIQ, three users exceed Beginner's two-user capacity, so the first published tier that fits three users is Pro at $149.99/month.

That does not automatically make ServiceM8 the better product. It does make the team-cost difference large enough that a three- or four-person detailing crew should calculate the exact plan instead of comparing homepage prices.

Example: one-person operation

A solo detailer can use ServiceM8 Free at up to 30 new jobs per month. QuoteIQ Essentials costs $29.99/month. If ServiceM8's Apple-first workflow and job allowance fit, the $0 starting point is difficult to ignore. If QuoteIQ's feature set or cross-device workflow fits better, $29.99 is still a low software cost relative to many field-service platforms.

4. AI: both now have AI, but the usage models are very different

This comparison should not be framed as “QuoteIQ has AI and ServiceM8 does not.” Current ServiceM8 pricing explicitly includes AI Smart Helpers. The Free plan publishes 10 AI uses per day, while paid plans publish unlimited AI uses per day.

QuoteIQ takes a different approach. Every paid plan includes its AI feature set, with usage powered by IQ Credits. Current monthly allocations are 500 on Essentials, 1,500 on Beginner, 3,000 on Pro, 5,000 on Elite and 8,000 on Max.

QuoteIQ's published AI toolset includes features such as AutoPilot, AI CoPilot, Ask AI Reports, Virtual Call Team, AI Estimator, image generation and AI-assisted data import. Different AI actions consume different amounts of IQ Credits.

Do not compare “unlimited AI uses” with “IQ Credits” as if they measure the same thing. The vendors package and meter AI differently. The more useful question is which specific AI workflow you will actually use and how often.

5. iPhone vs Android: ServiceM8 is still Apple-first

Device mix is one of the most important differences between these two products.

QuoteIQ publishes web access plus iOS and Android apps, and its current overview describes the platform as mobile-first.

ServiceM8 also has native apps for iOS and Android, but its own documentation says the iPhone and iPad app is the most feature-rich mobile experience. The Android product is called ServiceM8 Lite and is aimed at technicians, subcontractors and temporary workers who need core field workflows rather than the full management experience.

ServiceM8 Lite can handle useful day-to-day tasks such as viewing jobs, creating jobs, messaging customers, completing checklists and forms, taking photos, and generating quotes and invoices. But ServiceM8 documents a number of management and advanced features that remain unavailable in the Android Lite app.

IPHONE-FIRST TEAM

ServiceM8 becomes more attractive

Its strongest mobile experience is built around iPhone and iPad, and the low-volume pricing can be excellent.

MIXED IOS / ANDROID

QuoteIQ deserves a harder look

QuoteIQ publishes web, iOS and Android access without positioning Android as a Lite technician app.

6. Routing: both can optimize routes, but the cost comparison is incomplete

QuoteIQ publishes Route Optimization and Route Density Zones on Elite and Max. The first published QuoteIQ tier with route optimization is therefore Elite at $299/month.

ServiceM8 offers Auto Routing as an add-on. Its documentation says Auto Routing can reorder one staff member's scheduled jobs into a more efficient route, with options to preserve fixed-time bookings or give the optimizer more flexibility. ServiceM8 also supports route optimization from the iOS app for a staff member's own day.

However, DetailerFit does not currently find a clear public price for the Auto Routing add-on on the ServiceM8 pricing pages we verified. We therefore do not invent a total ServiceM8 routing price.

If routing is mandatory, use QuoteIQ's $299 Elite price as a known comparison point and confirm ServiceM8's live add-on price before making the decision.

7. Trial terms: ServiceM8 is easier to test with no billing risk

Both products publish a 14-day free trial, but the signup terms differ.

ServiceM8 says no credit card is required to start its trial. You only provide payment details if you decide to continue onto a paid plan.

QuoteIQ requires a credit or debit card to start its 14-day trial. Every trial starts with 250 IQ Credits, regardless of the plan selected. QuoteIQ also says that changing plans during the trial ends the trial and bills the card immediately for the new plan.

If you are testing both products, the safest evaluation process is to reproduce your real workflow: create a quote, schedule a job, test customer booking, send an invoice, add staff and test the exact phone types your team uses.

Real-world scenarios

Solo detailer · 20 jobs/month · iPhone · wants online booking

Start with ServiceM8. Its Free plan fits one user and up to 30 new jobs per month, Online Bookings are published across all plans, and iPhone is ServiceM8's strongest mobile environment.

Solo detailer · wants QuoteIQ's AI toolkit · online booking not required

QuoteIQ Essentials is a strong first look at $29.99/month. It includes estimates, invoices, internal scheduling, payments, web/iOS/Android access and QuoteIQ's AI features through 500 monthly IQ Credits.

Three-person crew · 40 jobs/month

ServiceM8 Starter has a major headline-cost advantage. It is $29/month with unlimited users and a 50-job allowance. QuoteIQ needs Pro at $149.99/month to fit three users.

Solo operator · customer self-booking is non-negotiable

ServiceM8 has the lower published entry point. ServiceM8 lists Online Bookings on all plans. QuoteIQ customer self-booking starts with InstaSchedule on Elite at $299/month.

Mixed iPhone and Android crew

Put QuoteIQ high on the shortlist. ServiceM8 can support Android field workers through ServiceM8 Lite, but its own documentation still recommends iPhone/iPad for the fullest experience.

Routing is required

Do not declare a price winner yet. QuoteIQ Elite includes route optimization at $299/month. ServiceM8 offers Auto Routing as an add-on, but the public add-on price is not clear enough for DetailerFit to quote confidently.

Which should a mobile detailer choose?

  • Choose ServiceM8 first if: you are iPhone-first, handle relatively low monthly job volume, want customer online booking cheaply, or have several users but a modest number of jobs.
  • Choose QuoteIQ first if: you want web/iOS/Android access across the business, value QuoteIQ's broader published AI toolkit, or prefer a pricing model that is not tiered by monthly new-job allowance.
  • Choose neither from headline price alone: user count, job volume, self-booking, route optimization and device mix can completely change the cheapest valid plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is QuoteIQ or ServiceM8 cheaper for a solo mobile detailer?

ServiceM8 has the lower entry price because its Free plan costs $0 for one user and up to 30 new jobs per month. QuoteIQ Essentials is $29.99/month for one user. The cheaper option can change once your actual job volume and feature requirements are included.

Which is better for customer online booking?

On current published plans, ServiceM8 has the stronger low-cost position. ServiceM8 lists Online Bookings across all plans. QuoteIQ lower tiers include internal scheduling, but customer self-booking through InstaSchedule starts on Elite at $299/month.

Does ServiceM8 work on Android?

Yes. ServiceM8 offers ServiceM8 Lite for Android for core field workflows. ServiceM8's own documentation says the iPhone/iPad app remains its most feature-rich mobile experience.

Which has better AI?

There is no responsible winner from the pricing pages alone. ServiceM8 includes AI Smart Helpers and publishes daily-use limits, while QuoteIQ offers a broader named AI toolkit metered through IQ Credits. Compare the exact AI workflow you need rather than the marketing label.

Which has better route optimization?

Both support route optimization. QuoteIQ includes it on Elite and Max. ServiceM8 provides Auto Routing as an add-on. DetailerFit does not quote an exact ServiceM8 routing total because a clear public add-on price was not found in the pages reviewed.

Which has the easier free trial?

ServiceM8 is easier to test without billing details because it says no credit card is required for its 14-day trial. QuoteIQ also offers 14 days, but requires a card and starts each trial with 250 IQ Credits.
